WBA Vs Blackburn – Match Preview
Writer - Max Jennings, TalkWBA
The second home game within a week is here against old Baggies boss Tony Mowbray who will look to get a win with his high performing Blackburn side.
Last season was a spectacular one for Blackburn and their fans as they saw the Lancashire side seal promotion with a 2ndplace finish, behind winners, Wigan Athletic. The main component to last seasons triumph and this seasons success has been the outstanding midfielder Bradly Dack. The 24-year-old Englishman has been on the radar of both West Brom and Spurs this year and no surprise why with him netting 18 times and getting 9 assists from 42 games last season. This term he’s had 6 goals and 2 assists in 11 games. So, it’s fair to say we could do with Livermore putting in a leg breaking tackle just to dampen their fiery attack!
I and many other Albion fans will be terrified of going back to the Hawthorns again if we are expected to see another 3 at the back Sunday league defending session like we did in that 4 - 1 loss to Derby. Which as naturally left to the cry of reverting to a back four to help calm the nerves. We held clean sheets against Man United, Spurs and Newcastle under a 4-4-2 with Moore last season so I’d very much like to see that approach to the game instead of praying Barnes can spark some magic to pull us through the mud.
Gibbs, Barry, Gayle and Hegazy all have knocks but we must hope for a quick recovery or else we’ll be very vulnerable to a 3rdconsecutive defeat. This game will be down to who is the most lethal and I’m going for a 2-1 WBA win.
I’d wish to see the team in a 4-4-2:
Gibbs (LB) - Hegazy - (CB) - Dawson (CB) - Mears? (RB)
Barnes (LM) – Livermore - (CM) - Morrison (CM) - Phillips (RM)
JayRod (ST) - Gayle (ST)
